About Kori

Hi! My name is Kori. I was a staff accountant for 5 years at a local CPA firm, and now I've owned my own accounting business for the past 3 years! I was born and raised in Rhode Island and got my degree in accounting at Rhode Island College. I have also taken some graduate accounting classes at Oklahoma State University. I remember in elementary school helping other students learn long division after school hours. While working on my Bachelor's I was a paid tutor for the university. In my free time I find myself helping my friends who are taking classes part-time understand their accounting coursework. I know it can be hard to understand some teachers when they explain things in abstract ways, so I try to help by bringing things back to Earth. I can explain things in real terms, so it's easier to understand. Let me help you!

I love watching students gain confidence in themselves as they start to grasp concepts and their grades improve!

My mother was a teacher that worked with special needs students. I grew up watching her find all different kinds of ways to explain things to her students when they had difficulty grasping a concept. So when I was in school and saw that a classmate was having a hard time understanding what the teacher was trying to explain, I would often help out by explaining the concept from a different point of view.

I have my BS in Accounting from Rhode Island College and have taken some graduate accounting classes at Oklahoma State. While working on my BS I was a paid tutor for the univeristy, and I have tutored through Wyzant.com since 2012. A large portion of my accounting practice also involves training my clients in multiple processes.

About the lesson

I like to use Google video chat for online lessons with students. This allows the student to share their screen and what they are working on without having to download anything onto their computer. For the lesson structure, I let the student dictate what they need out of me, whether that means reviewing a practice exam for an upcomming test, helping with homework, or just explaining concepts in a different way than their teacher is.

I have worked with students of all ages on all kinds of subjects including accounting, economics, algebra, geometry, Microsoft Excel, and more!

Details

My standard rate for tutoring sessions is $60/hour. I also offer group rates! $50/hour/student for groups of 2, $40/hour/student for groups of 3, or $30/hour/student for groups of 4 or more. Save yourself some money and bring a classmate!
