About Benjamin

My service stands out because of my dedication to enhance a students educational skills. My service also offers flexibility in location and educational tools. I can tutor in home, library, online, over the phone, website ((concealed information) and/or via email. I have many years of background in computer technology and teaching. I show the student how to be motivated to do the best he can do.

I enjoy being able to help a student improve their skills in the particular subject they need help in. I feel I am also making a contribution to increasing education among those who need help. I also get to continue using my computer and education skills to benefit others.

I got started teaching after leaving a computer technology position.

I have a background check report available upon request. I have a B.S. math degree from the University of Pittsburgh and have taught math in Montgomery County and Prince George's County schools and have several years of experience in computer programming at NASA's Goddard Spaceflight Center. I also have a M.A. in secondary education from the University of Phoenix. I have had additional training in HTML and other IT courses.

About the lesson

I currently am doing only virtual tutoring via zoom or Google Meet. I first get to know the student by asking them about their school, what are the things they like to do, what kind of books they like to read, who do they look up to, etc. I ask them do they like the particular subject I am tutoring them in. I ask them what career they want to pursue after they graduate from high school. Then I give them a diagnostic test to determine where they are in the subject to be be tutored. Then I will construct a tutoring plan to cover any deficiencies and current class objectives. I try to make the tutoring process fun and interesting by referring to people or history of the subject to be tutored. I am currently during online tutoring using zoom for cell phones and pc.

I've worked with many types of students: elementary, middle school, high school, college, adult, and special ed.

I would tell the student even after the tutoring session, practice, practice, practice. To continue to review the lesson in order to develop his skills in the particular subject.1

While I was doing my student teaching in Montgomery County Schools, I prepared a geometry lesson that also incorporated elements of the 'Underground Railroad' and Black History.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. Do they like the subject they are being tutored in?

2. What do they look for in a tutor.

3. How much time are they willing to spend on the subject.
