About Maximiliano
Howdy :)
I'm Maximiliano, but you can call me Max
I have been tutoring in Math and various other subjects since my first year in college. I recently graduated with a degree in Applied Mathematical Economics and a minor in Chemistry and Peace Studies from Marquette University.
Honestly, I love the language of math because it allows us to understand and truly appreciate the hidden relationships between things in our universe.
My goal is to help you realize that you are in fact good at Math. You just don't know it yet.
I like serving people and helping them understand things.
I originally thought that I wanted to be a teacher, but then I realized my talents were best suited as a Financial Advisor where I could still "teach". Currently, I am starting my career as an Advisor, and I enjoy teaching math on the side because it's kinda fun for me to review and I know kids need the help...esspecially if they're learning through Zoom.
I am a recent 2020 Graduate, and most of my extra currcular involvement in college was with education. In my time at Marquette, I became the President of our highschool tutoring organization two years in a row. I also taught Summer School last year and worked at a HeadStart program in Milwaukee.

I like to know what interests the student first and --if applicable-- what you want to be in the future. This way, I'll have a better idea of how to explain concepts to you. Typically I will ask you to take out your homework and we can work on it together. Otherwise, if you want me to go over something let me know before our call and I'll come prepared for you.
I have mostly worked with South East Asian refugees who are in highschool, middle school, and the occasional college student. This is the demographic that our student-led tutoring organization at Marqutte serves, but I also have experience with non-refugees. Only difference being that my non-refugee students didn't have the language barrier.
Everyone learns differently, and it's vital that you find someone with whom you feel comfortable making mistakes.
Doing dumb things is just the growing pains for being smart.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. "Was I paying attention when he/she explained this?"
2. "Am I just being lazy?"
3. "How can I ask my teacher without disclosing 1 and 2?"
lol 3 is a joke. But seriously, as long as you don't just go with the motions and you actually care about learning the material, any good teacher will work with you to understand what your needs are even if you don't know what they are yet.

Max is very friendly and helpful! I was having so much trouble with my college math classes and he was an amazing tutor. You can easily tell he loves teaching.
