About Gabriel

I am a full time math teacher with a bachelors degree in Secondary Math Education" and a masters degree in "Curriculum & Instruction". I can help tutor you in math as early as elementary level math as late as college level math. As a part of my degree I had to pass and am familiar with classes like calculus 1-3, differential equations, linear algebra, and euclidean geometry, and many more theory and proof classes. I Love math! And even I always somewhat understood math, I never came east to me. Over the years I have had to not only learn the material but through hard work I learned alot of tricks and tools of what causes people to trip up in all different levels of math. As a teacher my job is to help learn the material but importantly to understand the "why" behind what you are doing so you can retain what you learned over time. I have been tutoring for 10+ years and am able to meet you/find YOUR needs to help fill in gaps of your learning. Because of my Martial Arts background I can also help you with tricks that will help you with the rest of your life. I can't wait to work with you

I had some very impactful teachers (as well as horrible teachers) and along with my mentors, I learned and knew that I loved helping people and teaching/coaching since I was in 9th grade. Since then it was a arduous path straight to become a teacher, from secondary education track for my bachelors degree, to now a masters in curriculum and instruction

Bachelors: Secondary Math Education

Math classes taken include Algebra 1 through calculus 3. Differential equations, Linear Algebra, Discrete Math, Number theory, Finite Math, and Euclidean Geometry

15+ years coaching Martial Arts.

The coaching helps me to understand how to motivate, connect, and develop rapport with my students so I can better help them.

About the lesson

Give them a diagnostic for the first session to see how much they know and what they do not know. This way I can better focus on the concepts that need attention. This wastes less time and also helps me get to know the new student. The more I understand how they think, the better I can explain and teach them.

Looking to get tutored is not a sign of weakness , or lack of intelligence. In fact it is the maturity to realize that you may be able to do it but you might need help from someone to get you on the right path. My job as a tutor is to eventually make it so you won't need me anymore. I want to see all of my students succeed and I will help as best that I can.

Perfect! Mr.Alvarnaz is a great tutor/teacher. If you have trouble learning math concepts, he will be the best of help. He is extremely nice and calming, which is great if math is a stressful subject for you.10/10 I would recommend him for success in your math subject.

Mr. Alvernaz has been tutoring my son since 5th grade. We’ve tried Kumon and Mathnasium, but we stopped looking after we found him. Mr. Alvernaz is patient and flexible. He likes to be prepared — asking for the current math homework or test topics/ problems to work on. There are so many ways to teach today’s math— and he knows the best way to “teach” it based on your kids’ strengths. My son‘s in high school now, and whenever he's falling behind in math… Mr. Alvernaz is still our #1 go-to! We see an immediate lift in grades after his tutoring.
