About Simran

My aim is to prepare students in math and science fields in a way that they understand logic and the "why" behind the approach taken to solve problems, be it on test or Home work. Once the student knows the thought process, he/she will perform well in the future classes as well. My approach is very interactive in the sense that the student would learn while doing instead of me lecturing.

What gives me joy most is to see students get to the point where they don't need a tutor. A student's success is a very proud moment for the teacher. I love to see the young take a step forward in science majors.

I discovered my teaching passion at San Jose State University when I worked there as a grader. Students found me very helpful and easy to understand. I always laid out my expalnations with the right examples to help them understand concepts better. I truly enjoyed helping others by sharing knowledge.

B.S in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Worked as an Instructional Student assistant in San Jose State University, 2017-2019. Helped students format content and structure of their essays. Graded countless papers.

About the lesson

First, I would asses what areas the student is weak by going over HWs and previous exam tests.

Then I would teach them some of the fundamentals in the areas they need help in.

I would make the student practice more so he gets the logic behind solution. Math isn't about memorizing or doing things "the teacher's way". If students understand the fundamental logic itself then they can find different approcahes that would yield the same result to the same problem.

College students at San Jose State Univeristy

I would say look for tutors who are willing to teach you two hours in a week atleast. 1 hour is not enough in my opinion. I used to take tutions when I was in grades 8th to 10th. I know by experience that 1 hour is not enough.

Also, look for teachers who would help you during off hours too via phone or email. A true tecaher cares for the success of his/her studnets.

Is there a standard approach that you use to teach students or do you improvise based on students weak points?

Would you be willing to teach me at home/library/school/ where I am confortable learning?
