About Jay

Going back to my own science and engineering experience as well as the training and tutoring of my adult children my passion for mastering and teaching maths and sciences runs far and deep. I have a mechanical engineering degree and a mathematics minor from a top 20 engineering school. I scored a few questions from a perfect score in math on my SAT.

What drives me is A) my love for children and B) my understanding of the extreme urgency for U.S. children to catch up with the rest of the world in maths and sciences. We have slipped way too far behind and I'm bound and determined to do my part in reversing that trend!

In 1997 and 1998 I tutored K thru 12 students for a family friend's tutoring business. I tutored my now adult daughter throughout her K thru 12 schooling in the maths and sciences. I currently tutor my 11 yr old son in all subjects.

1) Bachelor of Science and Minor in Mathematics in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University.

2) Experience in a tutoring business with a family friend back in 97' and 98'. Tutored 4th thru 11th graders in math and sciences.

3) Turtored my own children in math and sciences.

About the lesson

1) Talk with parents and assess the student's acumen in the subject at hand.

2) Meet & greet with the student and assess how they feel about their understanding of the subject matter at hand.

3) Based on the aforementioned conversations, tailor a tutoring schedule that will bring the student from where they are currently to mastering the subject.

4th thru 11th graders.

Make sure they:

1) Truly care about your success.

2) Are patient!

3) Are genuine experts in the subject matter at hand.
