About Laura

I am a professional artist and co-owner of the Troika Gallery in Easton, Md. and have taught painting classes for years at my home studio about 6 miles outside Cambridge, Md. I teach what I do and know the best which is oil, pastel, and drawing.

I love to paint and I love to teach, having taught painting classes for over 25 years. Some of my students have been with me for 8 and 10 years, so something must be working!!

About the lesson

I teach in the traditional way (like the old masters) but also realize each artist's ability and give each one individual instruction to help them advance but also keep their personal style. An emphasis will be placed on proper artistic seeing–looking closely at the existing color and tonal relationships–and on understanding and manipulating what is seen. We will be working with the basic elements of painting, seeing them anew and in ways that can improve the craft of your painting. Through demonstrations and individual, as well as group, critiques and instruction, participants will be encouraged to assimilate what is learned in class with their existing techniques and artistic vision.

All levels: beginner, intermediate and professional/advanced

Details

My Classes are usually priced per "session" which is by the month or 4 lessions. They are on Tuesdays from 12noon till 5:30pm which totals at least 22 hours per month for $250.
