About Yinglun
Hi!
It is my belief that, in whichever subject you are studying, anyone can learn anything if they are taught in the correct way. And this "correct way" is not the same for everybody, which is why I focus on developing unique student-tutor relationships that take each student's needs and abilities into account.
I always strive to present concepts from different angles until we find one that clicks with the student, and to dig into their assumptions to ensure that they have a solid base of knowledge from which to build on.
Tutoring functions best when the student does the bulk of their studies alone, and uses the tutoring slots to discuss the concepts that they struggle with. No matter what I am teaching, I will ensure that the student is fully equipped for self-study. This involves both setting homework, and helping the student set up self-study methodologies and structures.
A bit about me: I'm 25, living in Stoke Newington and about to study Environmental Technology in Imperial College. Prior to this, I studied Chemical Engineering at Cambridge (graduated with a 1st), and worked for 2 years as a Management Consultant. I am a Native speaker of English, and am fluent in Mandarin. In my spare time I like to go to gigs and festivals (anything jazzy or funky), cycle, tend to my plants and vegetable patch, and do yoga. I am passionate about environmental issues and am changing my career to focus on environmental policy.
Tutoring experience: I tutored for 2 years of tutoring experience while studying at Cambridge, focusing on GCSE and A-Level Maths & Further Maths, Chemistry, and Physics. My students all achieved their target grades (A*-B range) in these subjects. I also have experience in tutoring Undergraduate level engineering and mathematics.
