About Annabel

Hi! I’m Annabel, and I’m passionate about making science accessible, engaging, and relevant for everyone. I hold a PhD in behavioral ecology and a Master’s in Environmental Biology, and while my research has focused on bats, ecology, and conservation, my scientific training spans a wide range of disciplines—including biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, statistics, and scientific writing. Over the years, I’ve learned how powerful it is to truly understand the foundations of science—whether that’s interpreting data, designing experiments, or simply making sense of the world around us. Through tutoring, I love helping others develop that same confidence and curiosity, no matter their background or level of study. Science can feel overwhelming at times, but my goal is always to break things down into clear, manageable steps tailored to your learning style. Whether you’re a high school student navigating general science, a university student working through complex material, or someone brushing up on skills like data analysis or research writing, I’m here to support you with patience and flexibility. I believe learning science should be both empowering and enjoyable—and I’m excited to help you build the skills and understanding you need to reach your academic goals.

About the lesson

As a PhD graduate with extensive experience in scientific research, data analysis, and teaching, I offer personalized and engaging science tutoring across a broad range of subjects. My sessions are designed to help students understand complex scientific ideas clearly and confidently, using real-world examples and practical applications. I tutor high school, university, and postgraduate students in: - General Science (concepts across biology, chemistry, physics, and math) - Biology, Ecology, and Environmental Science - Mathematics and Physics (focused on scientific understanding) - Chemistry (core concepts, problem-solving, and applications) - Statistics and Scientific Data Analysis (including R and other tools) - Scientific Writing, Experimental Design, and the Scientific Method My lessons are tailored to your learning style and goals—whether you're preparing for exams, writing assignments, analyzing data, or building confidence in a subject area. I emphasize: - Clear explanations with visual and interactive tools - Hands-on exercises that develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills - Real-world examples drawn from scientific research and current studies Lessons are typically 60 minutes and fully customizable to your needs. Whether you're tackling science topics, diving deep into a research project, or just need a clearer way to understand difficult concepts, I'm here to help you succeed with confidence and curiosity.

Annabel is the perfect tutor - not only does she absolutely know her stuff (she has a doctorate in Biology after all) but she’s kind and patient enough to explain (and re-explain) things in ways that make sense. It’s clear that she puts time and care into preparing for each session and is focused on helping her students achieve what they need. 5-stars!

Annabel is a fantastic mentor and teacher. She is patient, explains complex concepts clearly, but most importantly she is so enthusiastic and passionate about biology and ecology. This really rubs off and it’s hard not to be positive about these subjects when Annabel is helping you through them!

Annabel has been a fantastic Biology tutor for my nephew, Joshua. He absolutely enjoys her lessons and always speaks highly of her teaching. Annabel is not only knowledgeable but also very dedicated, patient and kind. She has the ability to explain concepts to Joshua, making it easier for him to understand. Both Joshua and I are very grateful for Annabel's dedication and support. I highly recommend her to any student seeking an excellent Biology tutor.
