About Stephen

I have been teaching up to and including GCSE Science (all 3 sciences) Combined and Triple and A-level Biology since September 2008 and look forward to continuing into the future. I have been Key Stage 3 Co-ordinator for Science at an outstanding in London school for 10 years and introduced GCSE in year 9 specialising in stretching and challenging which brought the best results in science at KS4 for the school. I was data lead for a science department in a school in Dunmow. Now I'm KS3 science lead at a school in Chelmsford. I teach all sciences at key stage 2, 3 and 4 and specialise in biology at A-level. My students always get good results and all my tutees I teach also get good results too. I'm a positive person and like to build good relationships with the families and the students that I teach. This allows me to explore the best techniques to support learning. I use a variety of techniques to my teaching and tutoring. These include formal teaching, tasks to consolidate, stretch and challenge students, exam style questions, videos and animations using laptop or tablet and setting of some independent learning in preparation for our next session. I employ a variety of teaching styles tailored to different pupils. In my roles in school I have been responsible to overlook and consult my science team, as a leader with a well-established and proven track record, how to be most effective in their teaching particularly at the challenging transitions into KS3, 4 and 5. Engaging with parents/carers is core to my teaching and tutoring and we will be in dialogue so that I can plan and prepare everything needed for sessions ensuring each session is as effective as possible. I use my first lesson to ascertain the needs of the student. This allows me to plan and compile resources. I bring with me paper resources which usually consist of challenging tasks and exam questions, a mini whiteboard to model concepts, my laptop to show any PowerPoints, videos and animations and of course myself. Lessons are geared around practice of challenging concepts.

Benefit from a discount for paying in advance in one go. Ensure when booking that dates are all booked so I'm aware of days to avoid. Any cancellations by client will be treated as a lesson missed and will not be reimbursed. If I cancel you'll still be entitled to that missed lesson.

The travel fee applies for any travel over the 20 km limit set and is £10 for every 15 km thereafter

Any student applying the may be able to form a group. We can negotiate a discount for the organiser: possibly starting with £5 discount for the organiser per extra student in the group; I would advise a maximum of 5 per group.
