About Jacob
I am a senior at UC Santa Cruz studying electrical engineering with an Associates degree in Mathematics. I have a strong passion for science and math, and love helping people understand why these subjects are so important! Additionally, I have been a musician my whole life and have found a way to connect these two seemingly disconnected fields which I believe those with similar interests will find fascinating and inspiring.
I spent a year as a math tutor at Mathnasium where I learned various methods of how to help students understand a wide variety of math concepts ranging from simple addition all the way to calculus.

I spend a lot of time focusing on helping students develop problem solving skills and to develop a deep intuition about subjects like algebra and calculus so that they can eventually feel confident learning difficult subjects on their own.
I typically begin by breaking down the reasoning for the methods used to solve math and science problems. Then move onto real work applications so that students can see the utility of learning such skills.
I've spent the last 6 years of my education strengthening my understanding of mathematics and physics which will help me aid students in understanding difficult concepts.
Typically, these lessons are most useful for middle school and high school students, and also students who are preparing for the SATs.
