About Annie
I bring both strong subject expertise and a student-centered approach to every tutoring session. I hold a B.S. in Data Science with a minor in Physics from UW–Madison, which gives me a solid foundation in mathematics and analytical thinking across a wide range of topics. Beyond my academic background, I have hands-on experience working with K–12 students in math tutoring settings, where I’ve focused on building understanding through clear explanations and adaptable teaching methods.
I approach tutoring with professionalism, structure, and care. Each session is intentionally designed to meet students where they are, whether that means reinforcing foundational skills, working through current coursework, or preparing for exams. I prioritize clarity and patience, and I make it a point to ensure students fully understand concepts before moving forward.
Equally important to me is creating an environment where students feel supported and capable. Many students struggle with confidence in math, and I work to change that by breaking down material into manageable steps and providing consistent encouragement. My goal is not just to help students improve their grades, but to help them develop lasting problem-solving skills and a stronger sense of confidence in their abilities.
Parents and students can expect reliability, clear communication, and a thoughtful, individualized approach to learning in every session.

My tutoring approach is centered on building both understanding and confidence. I aim to create a supportive, low-pressure environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Rather than simply giving answers, I focus on helping students understand the why behind concepts so they can apply their knowledge independently.
Teaching Methods and Techniques:
- I use a multi-sensory and adaptive teaching style, tailoring each session to the student’s learning preferences. This often includes:
- Breaking complex problems into smaller, manageable steps
- Using visual aids, real-world examples, and analogies
- Encouraging students to “think out loud” so I can better
understand their reasoning
- Reinforcing concepts through guided practice rather than
passive instruction
- I also emphasize pattern recognition and problem-solving strategies, especially in math, so students can approach unfamiliar problems with confidence.
A typical session is structured but flexible:
Check-in & review (5–10 minutes): Go over previous material or homework and address any lingering questions
Concept focus (15–25 minutes): Introduce or revisit a key concept, ensuring deep understanding
Guided practice (15–25 minutes): Work through problems together, gradually increasing difficulty
Independent practice (5–10 minutes): Student attempts problems on their own with support as needed
Wrap-up (5 minutes): Summarize key takeaways and discuss strategies for continued practice
I adjust pacing depending on the student’s needs and attention span.
What Sets Me Apart:
- What sets me apart is my ability to connect with students and meet them where they are. With my background in data science and physics, I bring strong analytical skills, but I also prioritize communication and empathy. I’m experienced in working with K–12 students using multi-sensory methods, which helps me explain concepts in multiple ways until something clicks. I also focus heavily on building confidence—many students struggle not because they can’t learn the material, but because they don’t believe they can.
Who My Lessons Are For:
- I primarily work with K–12 students in mathematics, ranging from foundational skills (elementary and middle school math) through high school courses such as algebra, geometry, and pre-calculus. I also support students who may need extra structure, alternative learning strategies, or confidence-building in addition to content help.
