About the lesson

As a tutor for Algebra, Precalculus, and Algebra 2, my approach is centered around making complex concepts accessible and engaging for my students. I believe in a student-centered teaching method where I tailor my lessons to fit each student's unique learning style, pace, and needs.

Teaching Method and Techniques
I use a combination of interactive problem-solving and conceptual understanding to teach. My goal is to help students not only solve equations but also understand the underlying principles that govern mathematical concepts. I incorporate visual aids, real-world examples, and technology, like graphing tools and educational apps, to reinforce learning. By breaking down complicated problems into manageable steps, I ensure that students build a strong foundation and confidence in their skills.

Each lesson is structured to maximize engagement and retention:

Warm-up (5-10 minutes): We start with a quick review of the previous lesson’s material, using a few warm-up problems to refresh the student’s memory and assess their understanding.

Introduction of New Concepts (15-20 minutes): I introduce the new topic by connecting it to real-life scenarios or previous knowledge, making it relatable and easier to grasp. For example, while teaching quadratic equations, I might relate them to projectile motion in physics.

Guided Practice (20-25 minutes): We work through problems together, gradually increasing in difficulty. I encourage students to explain their thought process as they solve each problem, which helps in solidifying their understanding and identifying any gaps in their knowledge.

Independent Practice (15-20 minutes): Students solve problems on their own while I observe and provide immediate feedback. This helps in reinforcing their learning and boosting their confidence.

Recap and Homework Assignment (5-10 minutes): We end the session with a brief recap of what we’ve covered and an assignment of practice problems that reinforce the day’s lesson. I also leave room for any questions or clarifications.
