About Abigail

I understand that inviting someone to support your child’s education requires trust. I am dependable, punctual, and organized, and I take that responsibility seriously. My background in healthcare training has also strengthened my communication skills, patience, and ability to stay calm and supportive in challenging situations.

Most importantly, I aim to create a learning environment where students feel respected, capable, and encouraged. I hold high standards for both myself and my students, and I am committed to helping them achieve measurable progress while building lasting confidence in their abilities.

I am proud of where I am today in my learning but I also know I wouldn't have made it here without the help of teachers and tutors before me. I always stress how common and important tutors are and how vital it is to ask for help.

About the lesson

I focus on breaking down complex concepts into simple, manageable pieces and adjusting my explanations based on how each student learns best.

I use step-by-step problem solving, guided practice, and FREQUENT check-ins to ensure understanding. I encourage students to explain concepts back to me in their own words because teaching it back reinforces true comprehension. I also incorporate real-life examples whenever possible to make abstract concepts more relatable.

A typical session begins with reviewing prior material or homework questions to identify gaps. Then we focus on one key concept at a time, working through examples together before transitioning to independent practice. I end each lesson with a quick recap and a few confidence-building problems to reinforce mastery.

As a medical student, I understand how important these skills are long term, not just math, but the study skills and time management. I help my students develop new personalized learning techniques, they develop plans that work for THEM. I’m calm, encouraging, and highly structured. I aim to help students feel capable and less anxious about math.

I work well with upper elementary, middle school, and high school students, including those who feel behind, struggle with test anxiety, or simply need consistent homework support. I’m happy to help with foundational math, pre-algebra, algebra, and general math confidence-building. I also can target specific test prep exams sch as SAT, ACT, and GRE.
