About Tomos
Hi, I’m Tom, a 20-year-old Civil Engineering student at Cardiff University. I achieved an A* in GCSE Maths and an A in A-Level Maths, but my journey wasn’t always straightforward.
During Years 7, 8, and 9, I was placed in the lower Maths sets and often found the subject challenging. Through hard work, consistency, and support from my teachers, I gradually improved my confidence and understanding, eventually achieving grades that I was proud of.
I want to teach because I know what it’s like to struggle with Maths and feel behind. My experience has shown me that success in Maths isn’t about being naturally gifted—it’s about effort, practice, and having the right support. I want to help students build confidence in their abilities and show them that they can achieve more than they think.
As someone who now uses Maths every day in my engineering degree, I understand how important a strong foundation is, and I enjoy helping others develop the skills they need to succeed.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs and ability level. Having gone from the lower Maths sets in Years 7–9 to achieving an A* in GCSE Maths and an A in A-Level Maths, I understand the challenges students can face and how to overcome them.
I focus on building confidence, explaining difficult topics in a simple way, and helping students develop strong problem-solving skills. Lessons will include working through examples together, practising exam-style questions, and identifying areas that need improvement.
I aim to create a friendly and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes. Whether a student is struggling with the basics or aiming for top grades, I will adapt my teaching to help them achieve their goals.
All lessons are conducted online and are available for GCSE Maths and below.
