About Michelle

I bring a classroom-tested blend of patience, structure, and adaptability. As a certified educator in 5–8 math and science, 6–12 biology and gifted endorsement in progress, I’m comfortable adjusting instruction for a wide range of learners.

About the lesson

Teaching Method and Techniques

My tutoring approach is built around clarity, connection, and confidence-building. I don’t just “cover material,” I help students understand how the pieces fit together so they can actually use what they learn.

I use a mix of:

Guided discovery (students work through ideas with support instead of passive listening)
Chunking and scaffolding (breaking complex topics into manageable steps)
Real-world connections (especially in science and math to make abstract concepts stick)
Frequent checks for understanding so gaps are caught early, not after the test

A Typical Lesson Plan

Each session is structured but flexible, depending on student needs:

Quick check-in (5 min)
We review goals, homework, or recent struggles.
Skill focus (15–25 min)
I introduce or reteach a concept using examples, visuals, and step-by-step modeling.
Guided practice (15–25 min)
Students try problems or tasks while I support, prompt, and correct misconceptions in real time.
Independent application (10–15 min)
Students demonstrate understanding on their own, building confidence and retention.
Wrap-up (5 min)
We summarize the “big idea,” note progress, and set a clear next step.
