About Abigail
Hi! I'm Abi.
I achieved A*AAA at A level Media Studies, Philosophy, Law, and an EPQ, and I'm now halfway through my Philosophy and Business degree at the University of Exeter. My degree so far has provided me with a thorough understanding of philosophy and also a greater perspective on writing, which I'm excited to put to use as a tutor.
Being an older sister, I'm experienced in explaining things, being patient, and helping with work. I've now been a tutor for a year and have great experience in teaching content, noticing where students need extra help, and providing tips essential for moving up grade boundaries; having helped students improve from C's to A's.
I’m a caring person and genuinely want to help people succeed. I don't give up on my students and am committed to working with them to get the grade they want.
Every session aims to build confidence and get students a step closer to their goal!

My tutoring style involves a flexible approach suited to each student's needs and learning pace. I like to keep lessons engaging and interesting for students, so utilise the shared screen to display relevant topics, regularly ask questions to ensure students can put concepts in their own words, and offer a mix of tasks involving viewing, writing, and discussing.
A typical lesson includes a brief revision quiz at the start, answering a past paper question through bullet points to illustrate marks and structure, then studying the mark scheme or an example answer to solidify understanding.
I keep a lesson tracker after every lesson which is important for monitoring progress and providing effective guidance. This helps highlight areas that require more focus.
I tailor my lessons to student's needs and look forward to discussing how I can help!
