About Sumayya

I am currently a student at UCL (University College London), where I am studying audiology. Having completed my GCSEs and A-Levels, I fully understand how challenging subjects like maths can feel, especially when you’re trying to grasp complex concepts. I’ve been there myself, and I know how frustrating it can be when things don’t seem to make sense. One of the aspects I enjoy most about tutoring is the ability to teach in different ways to cater to each student's unique learning style. Whether it’s breaking down complex concepts into simpler steps, using visual aids etc. I find that adapting my approach to match the needs of the student helps them truly understand the material. Whether you're struggling with foundational concepts or preparing for exams, I will provide structured, personalised lessons that guide you through each step, ensuring you feel supported and confident in your learning journey. With a structured approach, targeted exam practice, and ongoing support, I will help students ace their exams and achieve their goals!

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to support all primary school children as well as KS3 students (Years 7, 8, and 9). Whether you need help with foundational maths concepts or preparing for more advanced topics, I tailor my lessons to suit the specific needs and learning stages of each student. I take an exam-focused approach so my lessons are built around the idea that practice makes perfect, especially when it comes to exams. I will be focusing on exam questions from the start so students will get a feel for the kinds of questions they’ll face in their tests. This approach helps them develop the necessary strategies and skills to tackle questions with confidence. Before each session, I make sure there’s a clear plan in place so that the lesson flows smoothly. This helps students stay on track, making sure we hit all the key points without feeling rushed or confused. For younger students, lessons may be 1 hour to maintain focus and energy levels. For KS3 students, if they feel they need more time to cover a topic or would prefer a longer lesson, I’m happy to extend the session beyond the usual hour. I want to make sure they fully understand the material, so I offer flexible lesson durations based on their needs and preferences.
