About Spencer
Programming taught me to play with language. Math taught me to play with precision. Philosophy taught me to play with thought.
I bring a funny kind of background. I'm comfy with bigger names like Plato, Kant, Hegel, Heidegger. But I see them in context of others, like Deleuze & Guattari, A. N. Whitehead, the Kyoto school, and Object-Oriented Ontology. I spend most of my time dialoguing with amateur theorists and gurus, collectively weaving different schools of thought with emerging theories in physics, biology, and the cognitive sciences. I approach all of this playfully and seriously.
All of that is to help me teach. Where we both find it helpful, I'll do what I can to make a difference.

I treat everyone as someone special. I know there's a lot to being someone like you. Whatever you'd like to learn, we can approach it as equals. If you don't care about it, or if it doesn't make sense to you, I'll have as much patience as you have time. You deserve to enjoy learning.
I'm happy working with people of all skill levels. If you're working through brand new stuff, we can play with it till it feels concrete and significant. If you already know some things but want to keep building, we can explore around the edges and try looking at things in new ways. I love any challenge.
