About Laura

I also completed a Mathematics Alevel to A* standard, achieving 100% in my C3 and C4 papers. Even though I went on to study English and Theatre at university, I absolutely relish the feeling of solving a difficult equation. In school, I was a lot of people's go-to for solving difficult equations or getting their heads around difficult topics. I have now been successfully tutoring Maths for 5 years. I am very good at explaining and breaking down Maths, and my education in Nigeria till the age of 13, where Maths is very advanced, taught me some different methods than what is taught over here, so I'll be able to share different ways of getting their heads around difficult topics.

About the lesson

I have been tutoring Maths for 5 years now to students from as young as 7 up to GCSE level (Maths). I begin with areas of difficulty my student may be experiencing and go back to the basics, as often a lack of understanding can start from not really grasping the fundamentals. I want to fill any knowledge gaps developed over time and then by the end of the session, get my student to do an exercise independently then look it over with them and rework it with them. I also set homework to keep things ticking over in their brains. I use methods taught both here in the UK and methods I was taught during my childhood in Nigeria, where Maths is taught in a much easier yet advanced way to help my students. My lessons last 55 minutes.
