About Caripher

Hi! My name is Caripher, and I’m a 4th-year student at the University of Toronto, where I’m majoring in Psychology with minors in Biology and Linguistics.

I’ve always been passionate about learning, science, and working with others, which is what led me toward my long-term goal of becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon. I’m especially interested in medicine and hope to eventually build my own surgical practice, with the opportunity to provide care and perform surgeries in communities around the world.

As I work toward that goal, I’m currently beginning my preparation for the MCAT, which I plan to take in 2027. My university studies and my experience working with students have taught me the importance of patience, consistency, and finding different ways to explain a concept when the first approach doesn't quite click.

I also have hands-on tutoring experience through NALE and Spirit of Math in Toronto, where I work alongside teachers and assist students from Grades 1–12. Working with such a wide range of ages and learning levels has taught me that every student is different. Some students need extra practice, some need concepts explained in a different way, and sometimes they simply need someone to encourage them and remind them that they are capable.

Outside of academics and tutoring, I’m someone who enjoys a good balance between school and the things I love. I love reading and listening to music, and I’m also a big fan of soccer. When I’m relaxing, you’ll probably find me watching one of my favorite shows, House or Grey’s Anatomy — which probably isn't too surprising given my interest in medicine!

I genuinely enjoy working with students and seeing that moment when something that seemed difficult suddenly makes sense. As your tutor, I want to create a friendly, supportive, and comfortable environment, where students feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace.

Whether a student needs help catching up, preparing for a test, strengthening their understanding, or simply building more confidence in a subject, I’m here to support them and help them reach their goals.

I look forward to getting to know you and helping you succeed!

Hi! I am a 4th-year University of Toronto student. I understand that every student learns differently. My approach to tutoring is centered around patience, clarity, and building confidence. Rather than simply giving students the answers, I focus on helping them understand why something works so they can solve similar problems independently and understand what works best for them.

There are no silly questions, and mistakes are completely okay. My goal is to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students can learn without feeling pressured or embarrassed. Before each lesson, I take time to understand what the student is struggling with and what they would like to accomplish. I adapt my approach depending on the student's learning style, current level, and goals.

I offer personalized tutoring for students in Grades 4–12 in:

Math: Algebra, Geometry, Functions
Science: General Science, Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry
English: Essay writing, Reading, Grammar, Writing

Lessons are suitable for students who want:

-Homework and assignment support
-Help understanding difficult concepts
-Test and exam preparation
-Support catching up on missed material
-Extra practice and reinforcement
-Stronger study and problem-solving skills
-More confidence in their academic abilities

A typical lesson:
1. Quick check-in & review
We begin by discussing what the student is currently working on and reviewing any previous material that needs reinforcement.

2. Identify the main challenge
We focus on the concepts or questions the student is finding difficult.

3. Learn together
I explain the material clearly and work through examples step-by-step, encouraging the student to ask questions throughout.

4. Practice together
We work through practice questions, gradually moving from guided examples to more independent problem-solving.

5. Recap & next steps
We review what the student learned, clarify any remaining questions, and identify what they should focus on before our next session.

Online sessions available
Flexible scheduling
Personalized one-on-one support

Grades 7–9: $24/hour
Grades 10–12: $28/hour

As a UofT student, I also understand the importance of effective studying and staying organized when coursework becomes more demanding. I bring that perspective into my lessons while adapting to the student's individual needs. I won't simply give a student the answer and move on. Instead, I'll guide them through the process, explain the reasoning behind each step, and give them opportunities to practice until they feel comfortable doing it themselves.
