About Paul

Learning is as innate to the human experience as breathing. It happens everywhere and all the time.

My education and tutoring philosphy is learner-centered. The needs, interests, and aspirations of each young person I work with take center stage. The specific content assistance needed is wrapped within a context that makes the content relevant tothe young learner.

Rather than engaging with mathematics, reading, or any conventional school topic in a silo, I work with young people to find how it connects to their own lives. So, that funky algebra equation with random numbers, letters, and symbols transforms into a real-world problem the young learner can relate to immediately and continuously within their own lives.

This isn't just a tutoring experience to raise a grade or test score. It's an experience to ignite a passion for lifelong learning no matter what the future holds for each young person I work with.

About the lesson

I start by learning about who the young person is as a person. Taking time to build a trusting relationship accelerates the accomplishments the learner will make along the way.

Once this learner profile is established, I will establish an understanding on what the learner is wanting assistance with and co-create an experience with the learner to establish a clear plan of action that integrates their content-specific needs with their interests and passions—making the learning experience completely personalized.

As we continue working together, we will increase the challenge of the work, while remaining steadfast in keeping it relevant to those interests and passions (including new ones that often show up along the way).
