About Dave

Fingerpicking and barre chords represent the foundation of my method. I must admit, I initially found the transition between chords quite frustrating until I learnt how to move with purpose.

Having trained at Guildhall, I possess a deep understanding of music theory which helps me explain scales and modes clearly. Over 9 years, I have taught 393 students how to master reading sheet music and tabs. Tuning and maintenance are critical aspects of our time together. I find the process of helping a student shift from lead guitar basics to fluid soloing incredibly rewarding.

Struggling to make your chord transitions sound smooth is common. Think of your hands as needing a specific, rhythmic logic to navigate the neck. I break down difficult passages into manageable chunks. We prioritise acoustic technique to ensure your sound stays clean and resonant.

Your song requests get turned into simplified arrangements during our time together. We practise improvisation and soloing to build your confidence.

My 9 years of experience informs how I guide you through complex progressions. I bring the same discipline from my classical background to every guitar session. We move quickly through your goals. This process keeps our momentum high.
