About Erick
I'm Erick Benitez, a multidisciplinary artist and educator based in New York City. I currently lecture at Yale School of Art and hold an MFA from CalArts, where I studied as a Charles Gaines Fellow. My work spans painting, sculpture, installation, performance, sound, video, and new media, and is held in permanent collections. My practice is rooted in contemporary culture, mythology, and material experimentation — and I bring that same depth of thought and care to every student I work with.

I'm a practicing artist and current lecturer at Yale School of Art, with an MFA from CalArts as a Charles Gaines Fellow. My work spans painting, sculpture, installation, and new media — and is held in permanent collections.
My lessons are personalized and critique-driven. Whether you're building a portfolio for art school applications, developing a fine arts practice, or exploring art and design from scratch, I meet you where you are and push you further. Every session combines hands-on making, honest feedback, and conceptual thinking.
