About CHUN FUNG
Utilizing challenging and cognitive-demanding assessment tasks are suitable for my students. It is highly observable and noticeable that students in my class are brilliant and fast learners. Solely providing and relying exercises developed by the Hong Kong publishers is neither inadequate nor insufficient. In a bid to enhance their performance and challenge their cognitive thinking, I tend to use online materials such as referring to the exam paper used in Singaporean primary school which, in general, are considered too difficult to Hong Kong students. On 18th October, my class finished one of the quizzes and most of the students spent only half of the time completing the quiz. As a teacher, I am thrilled to see the rapidity illustrated by students when dealing with the quiz and I do believe that a wide range of outside materials such as from Singapore or even English-speaking nations, under prior careful screening before distribution, can be beneficial to students' learning process.

Owing to the observable burning desire of rapidly enhancing English proficiency, I design the materials catering both less able and more capable students among the class. In the initial stage of a chapter, more resources developed by the publisher such as the graded worksheets and classwork are used constructing a solid base for students. Workbook and grammar practice is wildly adopted facilitating the understanding of students. As students are getting increasingly exposed to the target linguistic items, we select various of worksheets integrating authentic context. For example, students are required to report the finding of a survey using comparative and superlative comparing the popularity, price and taste. Combining inter-disciplinary knowledge with the assistance of authentic context enables students using English in a nothing but meaningful way. As a result, students are familiar with the target language items after the application in the genuine contexts. Owing to the fact that students have a higher likelihood to be challenged by heterogeneous vocabulary and concept, authentic pictures can be extremely powerful in explanation. It is recommended that teachers should maximize the English exposure of students and therefore, some vocabulary items and concepts can not be explained compared to teaching in the mother tongue. However, I use various pictures and examples illustrating the rules. Categorizing short and long adjectives in comparative and superlative forms is the case in point. Two clear-cut rules provided to students namely noticing the ending letter of the adjective and the number of syllables in that adjective. With a more systematic division, students are easier to differentiate various adjectives.
