I am an experienced performer and pedagogue who is comfortable teaching students at range of different levels and ages.
I have had personal performance experience with competitions, exams, recitals and auditions and will be able to assist you in preparation for these.
I am familiar with varying exam syllabuses as well as the Suzuki Method and I enjoy performing in a range of styles such as jazz, Scottish folk and American Bluegrass.
Currently based in Suffolk, Hilary Hayes holds a Bachelor of music with first class Honours from the University of Auckland, New Zealand.
A graduate of the Australian National Academy of Music, Hilary is a past winner of the PACANZ National Young Performer of the Year Award (NZ) and the Royal Overseas League Arts International Scholarship for a New Zealand Chamber Ensemble.
Hilary has been a contract player in the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic and most recently, guest Associate Principal- Second Violin of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
She also has a love of jazz, bluegrass and folk music and is proficient on the ukulele, mandolin and bass guitar. Hilary's folk experiences have recently included being invited to perform at the Newport Folk festival in 2015 and again in 2017.
