About Blake

Hi, I’m Blake — a queer, non-binary artist from Galicia, currently based in Manchester. I work across drawing, printmaking, painting, and slow crafts like crochet. I believe art is about much more than getting things “right” — it’s a way of thinking, processing, and being present. I’ve struggled with creative blocks, pressure, and the feeling of not fitting into traditional art spaces — so I know how valuable it is to have someone beside you who listens and helps you find your voice. Whether you’re building a portfolio or just want to reconnect with making, I offer sessions that are calm, thoughtful, and tailored to you. I love seeing others fulfil their potential and find their own voice in art. I live and breathe art and will love to share that with other creatives that might need a gentle push in the right direction.

About the lesson

My teaching style is flexible, creative, and student-led. I adapt each session based on your goals, whether you’re looking to develop technical drawing skills, prepare an art portfolio, reconnect with your creativity, or try something new like crochet or printmaking. I focus on building confidence and fluency in your visual language — helping you develop your own style through gentle, practical guidance. I’m especially strong in figurative drawing, colour theory, form, and creative experimentation, and I can support a wide range of approaches, from traditional to more expressive or conceptual work. Sessions are typically 1 hour, though longer lessons or workshop-style sessions can be arranged. I teach online and in-person (in Manchester) depending on what suits the work and the student.

My Background and Experience I’m currently a postgraduate Fine Art student at Manchester School of Art, with a BA in Fine Art and over five years of independent practice. I work across different media, including drawing, oil painting, printmaking (etching, linocut, screen), and textiles like crochet. Alongside my own art practice, I’ve led peer workshops, organised exhibitions, mentored younger artists, and supported students with creative blocks, sketchbook development, and university applications. I’m also fluent in Spanish, Galician, Italian, and English, which allows me to connect with learners from different cultural backgrounds.
