About Dana

I am Dana Karson, a University of Pennsylvania neuroscience graduate and incoming medical student with multiple acceptances to top U.S. medical schools. I have extensive experience working with students in rigorous academic environments and supporting families navigating complex medical and educational systems. My background combines high-level science training, research experience, and one-on-one mentoring. I am patient, professional, and committed to helping students build both mastery and confidence in biology.

About the lesson

My Teaching Method & Techniques
I focus on building deep understanding rather than memorization. Biology becomes much easier when you see the patterns, mechanisms, and “why” behind the facts. My sessions emphasize:

Clear conceptual explanations using diagrams, analogies, and real-world examples

Active learning (practice questions, retrieval, teaching-back)

Breaking complex processes into simple, logical steps

Test-taking strategies tailored to biology exams (AP, Regents, MCAT-style passages, etc.)

Study skills coaching to help students become independent learners

I adapt to each student’s pace, strengths, and goals — whether that means reinforcing fundamentals or pushing toward advanced mastery.
