About Samantha
Hi! I’m Samantha Ruffo, a fourth-year English Language and Literature student at Queen’s University, also completing a Commerce certificate. I am passionate about helping students build literacy, reading, and creative writing skills through personalized and engaging lessons.
I bring a wealth of experience working with children and adults in educational, camp, and leadership settings. I have served as a Camp Coordinator, Senior Staff, and Program Director, where I planned and delivered inclusive, safe, and engaging activities, supervised staff and volunteers, and collaborated with parents and community organizations. These roles have strengthened my communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, which I integrate into tutoring to create structured, supportive, and enjoyable learning environments.
In addition to my work experience, I am involved in student-run projects and creative initiatives, including writing, editing, content creation, and event coordination. I bring this creativity and organization into lessons, helping students not only strengthen academic skills but also develop their confidence, creativity, and voice.
My teaching philosophy emphasizes personalized support, encouragement, and practical strategies. I use interactive exercises, guided reading, creative writing prompts, and discussion-based activities to ensure students engage actively with the material. I focus on helping students gain confidence, enjoy learning, and achieve their full potential.
