About Roel

Roel Arazo joined The United States Army Field Band in 2025. He earned a Bachelor of Music from the University of Michigan where he frequently performed in solo, chamber, and large ensemble settings. Roel has participated in several regional and national tuba-euphonium conferences and has been recognized in competition, including the Leonard Falcone International Tuba and Euphonium Festival. In addition to his performance career, Roel is passionate about outreach and inspiring the next generation of brass musicians. Outside of music, he enjoys video games and spending time with his loved ones. Roel comes from Miami, Florida.

About the lesson

As a teacher, I focus on developing each student’s unique voice on the euphonium through a balance of musical expression, technical precision, and mindful practice. My teaching method blends fundamentals, tone, breathing, articulation, and phrasing, with creative interpretation and performance confidence. A typical lesson begins with warm-ups and technical exercises, followed by etudes or solo repertoire tailored to the student’s goals, whether preparing for auditions, improving ensemble skills, or enhancing musicianship. What sets me apart is my emphasis on connecting technique to storytelling and emotion, helping students understand the why behind every note. My lessons are designed for middle school through college-level musicians, as well as adult learners seeking to refine their artistry and deepen their connection to the euphonium.

Perfect! Roel was great! He was personable, professional, and inspiring. He was able to identify the weaknesses of my son's playing and help him understand what he can do to improve. He also encouraged him to listen to euphonium soloists to learn what good playing sounds like. He met my son at his level and encouraged him accordingly. I would recommend Roel as a teacher!
