About Xandrix

With over 20 years of experience playing and teaching the euphonium and other brass instruments, I bring a wealth of knowledge, passion, and dedication to my lessons. As a teacher, I believe that music is a deeply personal journey that should be both inspiring and rewarding, regardless of skill level. Whether you are a complete beginner eager to discover the beauty of brass playing, an intermediate player striving for greater technique and expression, or an advanced student preparing for professional auditions or exams, I am committed to guiding you through every step of your musical path.

My teaching approach is built on a foundation of strong technique, musical theory, and expressive performance, all tailored to meet your individual needs and goals. Together, we’ll explore a wide range of musical styles, from classical and jazz to contemporary brass repertoire, while refining your technical skills and developing your unique sound. If you're ready to take your playing to the next level, I’m here to help you unlock your full potential and experience the joy of making music.

About the lesson

Fundamentals First: Emphasizing solid technique as the foundation for long-term progress. This involves teaching breath control, embouchure, articulation, and posture from the very first lesson.

Holistic Learning: Incorporating music theory into lessons so students can understand what they are playing. This could include sight-reading, scales, key signatures, and harmonic analysis.

Personalization: Tailoring each lesson to the student's current skill level and musical interests. Whether it's preparing for exams, improving tone quality, or learning new genres/styles, your teaching adapts to the student's goals.

Varied Repertoire: Using a wide variety of musical pieces to help students develop technical skills while also fostering a love for music. This may include classical, jazz, and contemporary brass pieces, depending on the student's preference.

Listening and Ear Training: Encouraging students to listen actively to professional performances to refine their musicality, tone, and phrasing.

Progressive Challenges: Offering gradual, structured challenges to push students beyond their comfort zones, helping them progress steadily without feeling overwhelmed.

Incorporating Technology: Utilizing recording devices, metronomes, and music software to assist in improving accuracy, timing, and overall performance.
