About Lowenna
Based in both Cornwall and St Andrews (depending on university term time), I am available for in-person tutoring sessions if you live nearby, or online if not. My A-levels were in Biology (A*), Maths (A) and Psychology (A) and I am now studying Neuroscience at the University of St Andrews. When I am not studying, I love to swim, surf, hike and dance. While in Cornwall, I work part-time in the reception of a GP practice. Year-round, I work in Public and Patient Involvement, giving researchers the perspective of a young person to ensure their research is appropriate and ethical. When in St Andrews, I volunteer with The Wave Project (a charity which offers surf therapy programmes for children) as a Surf Mentor, working 1-1 with children both in and out of the water.

I am a patient and enthusiastic person who loves both learning and teaching. When explaining maths and science concepts, it is important to me that the student understands not just how to find the answer, but why they should be following those particular steps. This encourages the problem-solving skills required to face unexpected questions in exams. For GCSE and A-level students, it is important to work with their exam board specification, meaning students are aware of the topics which might come up in the exam. Discussing exam technique is also vital because it ensures that students understand how to tackle different types of questions.
