About Shirina

Hello! I'm Shirina, a dedicated engineering student at McMaster University with a strong passion for both learning and teaching. My journey into tutoring began with a desire to share my love for math and science while helping others succeed academically.

As a student myself, I understand the challenges and frustrations that can arise when tackling complex subjects like math and science. Throughout my academic career, I've developed effective study strategies and problem-solving techniques that have proven successful for me and my peers.

What prompted me to teach is the joy of seeing fellow students overcome obstacles and gain confidence in their abilities. I find immense satisfaction in helping others grasp challenging concepts and witnessing their academic growth firsthand.

My tutoring experience spans working with students from Grades 9 to 12, where I've honed my skills in breaking down difficult topics into digestible pieces and fostering an engaging, interactive learning environment. I believe in tailoring my approach to each student's unique learning style and pace, ensuring that they not only understand the material but also develop a genuine interest in the subject.

Teaching Methodology
My teaching methodology is rooted in a deep understanding of physics concepts, personalized learning, and practical application. I believe that every student has a unique way of learning, and my goal is to tailor each session to fit the individual needs of my students. Here's how I achieve this:

Conceptual Understanding
Physics is not just about solving equations; it's about understanding the fundamental principles that govern the universe. I emphasize a strong grasp of these core concepts through intuitive explanations, real-world examples, and thought experiments. This approach helps students see the bigger picture and understand how different topics interconnect.

Interactive Learning
I engage students in active learning by encouraging them to ask questions, think critically, and solve problems collaboratively. This method not only keeps students motivated but also reinforces their understanding through discussion and hands-on practice.

Customized Lessons
Each lesson is customized based on the student's current level, goals, and learning style. Whether you're preparing for an exam, struggling with homework, or looking to deepen your knowledge, I adjust my teaching strategies to meet your specific needs.

Real-World Applications
Physics is everywhere around us. I incorporate real-world applications and experiments into my lessons to make the subject more relatable and exciting. By seeing how physics applies to everyday life, students develop a genuine interest and appreciation for the subject.
