About Maxim
I’ve been drawing and painting for most of my life, with a focus on traditional and representational art. I’m especially interested in figure drawing, portraiture, and understanding how light, form, and anatomy work together. I take the same practical, fundamentals-based approach to my own work that I bring to teaching.

I try to keep teaching simple and practical. We focus on the fundamentals that actually make your work better, and I’ll be straightforward about what’s working, what isn’t, and how to fix it. I want you to understand what you’re doing rather than just follow instructions, so you can improve faster and eventually work through problems on your own.
