About Abubakar

I hold an MSc in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Stavanger, specialising in physics, with an A on my master's thesis.

I have taken GCSEs myself and achieved 10 A grades in my O-levels, so I understand these exams from a student's perspective too.

Through several student-assistant appointments at UiS, I have supported students in FYS100, MAT100, MAT200 and ENE211. I currently assist with MAT100 and have also privately tutored UiS students in mathematics and physics. This experience has taught me to identify where a learner gets stuck, explain an idea in different ways and give them space to work it out.

These lessons focus on science for grades 9–10 and GCSE/IGCSE/O-level, including biology, chemistry and physics. I use sketches, practical examples and questions to make unfamiliar ideas easier to understand.

You do not need to know everything before your lesson. We start where you are and work patiently towards your goal. Lessons are in English; Norwegian textbooks and assignments are welcome.

About the lesson

Science becomes easier when you understand the connections and can explain them in your own words. I offer calm and structured help for grades 9–10 and GCSE/IGCSE/O-level, with teaching in English. We can work with: • Biology: cells, the human body, photosynthesis, cellular respiration and ecosystems. • Chemistry: atoms, the periodic table, chemical reactions, acids and bases. • Physics: forces, motion, energy and electricity. • Experiments, models, graphs and interpretation of results. We start with the topic you find difficult, and build understanding with sketches, everyday examples and short tasks. You get to practice using the subject terms, explain why something happens and show your reasoning in a test answer. I adapt the pace and help you find the specific step that is missing. The lessons are suitable for ongoing subject support, guidance with school assignments, tests and exam preparation at these levels. Norwegian textbooks and tasks can be used even if the explanations are in English. For GCSE, IGCSE and O-level we will take your exam provider, curriculum and exam year as a starting point. Please send your topic or assignment in advance so we can clarify how I can best help. Lessons are offered online and in the Stavanger area.
