About Amy

For my GCSEs I achieved all 9s in the Sciences and Maths, incl. Further Maths and right now I am a medical student at UCL, having just achieved 3 A*s in my A Levels (Biology, Chemistry and Maths). But I’d be more than happy to help anyone preparing for their A Levels/GCSEs or any levels leading up to them. However, I am particularly confident with the IGCSE Edexcel Biology and A Level Edexcel A syllabus. My goal is to make students feel more confident in what they’re learning and help them realise that they can achieve more than they might think.

About the lesson

I’m a big believer in the idea that everybody has the potential to achieve top grades in any subject, no matter their current ability. In my lessons, I will aim to pinpoint any areas which a student may be struggling and help them build a deeper understanding for key concepts, which will help set them up for success. I’ve been tutoring as part of a Refugee Tutoring programme for just under a year now, which has taught me a lot about how to make learning engaging and accessible for all kinds of students. It’s been a really rewarding experience so far, and I’ve learnt a lot about the importance of patience and adaptability in teaching. Additionally, I make sure to pre-plan my lessons based upon the students' weakest topics and I set weekly homework, which are combinations of weaker topics and key exam questions from past papers.
