About Ned

My name is Ned, and I am a 20/yo student currently undertaking my third year of a Bachelor of Music Performance in contemporary guitar at the University of Melbourne.

I started playing guitar when I was 14 and have since fallen in love with the instrument, dedicating myself to the instrument since then and covering a diverse and demeaning range of repertoire.

I have been teaching guitar since 2020, with students at every level learning for leisure, as well as more committed preparation for AMEB or Rockschool exams. I have been working in music studios, primary schools, and private tuition, with children and adults of diverse backgrounds and learning needs.

In my teaching, i place particular emphasis on my student's ambitions, while simultaneously exploring the world of music the guitar offers.
We will work through broad musical concepts relevant to the desired repertoire, and progress through these ideas and concepts in how the are relevant to guitar.
You will be pushed to practice and perform during these lessons, developing your own understanding of music through exploring repertoire you enjoy, and being able to express this through your guitar at your own pace.

My goal is to create a supportive and motivating learning environment, encouraging students to not only excel in their technical proficiency but also to develop a deep appreciation for the art of music.

As a dedicated tutor, my approach revolves around fostering a comprehensive and enjoyable learning experience for my students. Here's an insight into my teaching methodology:

1. Techniques and Teaching Methodology:
I employ a personalized approach tailored to each student's learning style and goals. Emphasizing a practical hands-on approach, I blend fundamental theory with practical application, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of the subject matter. I integrate a variety of instructional materials, including sheet music, play-along tracks, and multimedia resources, to keep lessons engaging and effective.

2. Typical Length of a Lesson:
Each lesson typically spans 60 minutes, providing ample time for skill development, discussion, and practical application. This duration allows for a focused exploration of concepts while ensuring that students can absorb and apply new knowledge effectively.

3. Qualifications/Experience as a Tutor:
With 4 years of tutoring experience, and three years into a Bachelor of Music Performance, My background in instrumental tutoring, education, performance, and profeciancy is thorough, and I am passionate about instilling this love for music and fostering individual creativity in each student.

My lessons cater to a diverse audience, spanning all skill levels and age groups.
