About Bernadette

My name is Bernadette. I have a 420hrs TEFL Advanced level 5 diploma, I am very excited to teach English it is my passion to help you better speak English. I am passionate about teaching and interacting with different cultures. I live in South Africa in the Western Cape in a small town called Hermanus. Interesting fact, Hermanus is the top 10 destination in the World for whale watching. They arrive between June and November every year and we are blessed to witness these majestic creators.

I am an energic, fun loving person. I am a native English speaker, and fluent in Afrikaans with a little Zulu on the side. My teaching history is limited to the corporate environment, this is where I developed my love for teaching and coaching people. I can teach general English as well as Business English. If you just want conversation in English or a vocabulary lesson.

I will take the time to understand and help students every lesson that is taught - I have a lot of patience with new learners and experienced leaners, there are times students may need extra encouragement and motivation. Every student should have fun and learn at the same time, my lessons are structured around a students needs. As students have their own strengths and weaknesses it is important to form and structure their lessons, so that the student gets the best results overall to develop their skill sets. I look forward to meeting you and helping you with your English.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed around the students needs. Each students has a reason for learning English.

I have designed lessons for beginners all the way to advanced.

My beginners lessons are structured not only for children, but also for adults, with a wonderful phonics pack from A - Z that helps students to synthesize the sounds of each letter. This will help students with reading, writing and speaking fluency.

My lessons will be fun and interactive to help the student retain the information they have learnt . Students will have access to worksheets, fun games and homework to re-enforce the information.

If a student has a specific area they need English lessons. e.g. Reading and comprehension, Emails, writing. I can structure a lesson specific to their needs, this type of lesson structure also helps students who are stretched for time to achieve their goals sooner.
