About Halla
Hello! I'm Ms. Blair and I have been teaching since 2016. I am fortunate that I have spent my career so far in environments that fostered intrinsic motivation to be the best educator that I can be. I hold myself to high standard and use compassion and understanding when working with students. Since 2020 I have been teaching entirely online and have delighted in seeing how technology can bring people together to help change lives.

I use the science of reading to guide individualized lesson plans to target skills learners are needing to achieve their goals.
A typical phonics lesson I teach would introduce a new sound, then flow to blending words with the new skill, reading words with the new skill, reading a passage targeting the new skill, and spelling words with the new skill. These would all be taught alongside review from previous lessons.
A typical reading lesson would include a passage followed by the targeted skill such as text structure, main idea, or another skill. These lessons would end in comprehension questions.
I am experienced with teaching on online platforms. My lessons are dynamic and engaging for the learner, despite the necessity of routine and repetition that is best practice when teaching new skills.
My lessons are for those that are at the very beginning of their English language reading journeys to about a 5th grade reading level. Don't let the grade level fool you my lessons are for anyone needing those level of skills.
