About Akila

1. Preparation Before Class Review the student’s syllabus, school textbook, and exam schedule. Plan the lesson: decide whether today’s focus is concept building, practice, or revision. Keep some extra problems (easy → medium → hard) ready. 2. Beginning the Class (5–10 mins) Start with a quick recap of the previous lesson. Ask a few short questions to check if the student remembers. Identify if the student has any doubts or weak areas before moving on. 3. Teaching the Concept (15–20 mins) Introduce the new topic in simple language. Use examples from real life to connect the concept (e.g., percentages → shopping discounts). Work out 1–2 problems step by step on the board/notebook. Encourage the student to explain the steps back to you — this shows if they’ve understood. 4. Guided Practice (15–20 mins) Give the student a few sums to solve while you watch. Correct mistakes immediately and explain patiently. Adjust the difficulty level depending on the student’s speed and confidence. 5. Independent Practice + Homework (10 mins) Assign a small set of problems for the student to try alone during class. End with homework or a worksheet for further practice. Make sure homework is not too heavy, just enough to strengthen the concept. 6. Ending the Class Summarize the key points taught. Ask the student to say in their own words what they learned. Motivate them by appreciating effort, not just correct answers. 7. Tracking Progress (Long Term) Maintain a simple record of topics covered, mistakes, and improvements. Give weekly or monthly tests to monitor progress. Before exams, focus on revision, past papers, and time management tips.
