About Sophia

Hello, my name is Sophia and I'm from the United States. I am a TEFL-certified English tutor with a year of official teaching experience, but I’ve always been the teaching type! I know learning a new language can feel tough—I’m learning languages myself, so I understand the struggles you might face along the way. My teaching style is calm, thorough, and flexible. Whether you need help with conversation practice, business English, or specific goals, I’ll adapt lessons to fit your needs.

Outside of teaching, I love spending time in nature—walking, hiking, or swimming always clears my mind. I’m also a very creative person, and you’ll often find me writing poetry, drawing, taking photos, playing music, or cooking something new. I think these passions help me bring fresh ideas and creativity into my lessons too. Most of all, I want you to feel comfortable and confident while learning!

About the lesson

My teaching style is laid-back and highly customizable—your journey to mastering English will be built around what you want to achieve! I begin by getting to know you: understanding your current level of proficiency, your vocabulary, and most importantly, your reasons for learning English. Whether you want to improve your everyday conversational skills, enhance your business communication, or get a better grasp of modern slang, I will create lesson plans that fit your specific goals! Together, we’ll focus on the aspects of the language that matter most to you. If you want to speak confidently and naturally, we’ll practice pronunciation, tone, and common phrases. If you're preparing for a business setting, we can fine-tune formal language and professional expressions. I am TEFL certified and able to focus on IELTS and other formal tests, as needed. I’m here to guide you every step of the way, making sure any frustration or concerns are taken care of with ease. No matter where you are in your English-learning journey, I’ll support you in gaining the confidence and skills you need to succeed!
