About Vijay

I am a student studying Bsc. Financial Mathematics and Statistics at LSE.
I took Maths, Further Maths & Physics at A-Level scoring A*AA respectively.
I had offers from Warwick LSE and Kings College London to Study Mathematics and Statistics.
I have 8A*s and 4As at GCSE ( Including Maths, English Language & Literature)
Previous Experience teaching KS1, 2 & 3 student within an established tutoring organisation (7 months)

Mathematics is a truly magical subject which I am really privileged to have the chance to study at university. After receiving help from a tutor and being one myself, I understand how truly pivotal a tutor can be to one's educational journey. Therefore I am looking to help students achieve their goals and aspirations in their GCSE/A Levels and go on to have bright futures in their chosen subjects.

About the lesson

For GCSE and A level students, I will mainly be teaching mathematics and physics. However, for KS3 students and below I believe I am highly proficient in all the skills required for teaching all academic subjects.

As a tutor I have the great responsibility of supplementing a student's school education: to cater specifically to their queries and struggles which simply cannot be resolved within a classroom environment. Therefore, all my lessons are structured flexibly to ensure the students can fully understand areas which they feel are weak and uncomfortable. Though I try to avoid a fixed schedule, I find it highly useful to incorporate the following in to each lesson:

- Detailed Explanation of the topic in question
- Close reference to a textbook/exam board specification
- Intensive questions at progressive levels to give students a head start on school teaching
- Close monitoring of students approach to questions to establish a strong style of answering questions
- Varying homework levels based on subject competency

I have found that students who bring questions to the lesson gain the most out of their time with me as their queries will highlight potentially serious gaps in knowledge and will give me an indication as to what to prioritise.

I like to create a relaxed but focussed environment in my lessons which I find to be the most effective atmosphere to transfer knowledge. With both the students co-operation and my experience in the subjects, we can make substantial improvements on students' knowledge and confidence to answer tough questions which come their way and build a stronger base to tackle their exams.
