About William
My name is William and I'm an undergraduate History student at the University of Manchester. I am a passionate student with a desire to stay in academia. I want to tutor because I feel many students are taught the material but aren't taught how to apply this knowledge effectively. Learning how to apply knowledge effectively is the key to not only good grades but a deeper understanding of the subject.
My methods are fun and engaging from creating Quizlets to more traditional methods like mind maps and timelines. Always, the central focus of my lessons are to understand how acquired knowledge can be applied to essays, which is so essential to getting top grades.
Having to work hard myself in school, I understand many different methods of learning material, giving me an opportunity to figure out what methods work best for different students.

I offer comprehensive revision techniques centred around essay planning. Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter in combination with forming a well substantiated and thought through argument is the key to History and Geography.
In my opinion, learning the material is the first step and schools often pay less attention to applying this knowledge.
My teaching methods focus on how to apply this knowledge in exams through essays.
My knowledge of both subjects is extensive as well as what is required In the current environment as many of the techniques I used I still apply to my undergraduate studies.
By focusing on essay planning, over 1 hour sessions, students can develop a skill that gives them the best chance to attain top grades.
My lessons are for GCSE History and Geography which I got 9s in and A level History which I got an A* in whilst also passing the Oxford entrance exam (HAT).
