About Alvin
I am a mechanical engineer, with my latest 2 positions being at Boeing and Bayer. Professionally, I am interested in the design and manufacturing aspect of engineering, and specifically how design and manufacturing can be made more efficient and effective.
I have been tutoring STEM topics since my second year in college, and education is one of my biggest personal and professional passions. I have always enjoyed learning about new STEM topics, and also greatly enjoy sharing what I've learned through teaching and tutoring.
My goal as a tutor is to add clarity to the topics we study, and try to remove any stress and anxiety surrounding it. I try to take intuitive approaches wherever possible, and seek to not only help students solve the immediate problem, but also to see the big picture of the topic.

Hi! I've been tutoring STEM subjects for 6+ years now, with most of my experience being in tutoring math and physics. I enjoy guiding students through their studies by providing intuitive examples and demonstrations that make the subject understandable in the real world.
I enjoy the experience of tutoring because it allows me to look at familiar concepts in new ways. I really want students to feel like they understand every step of the topic we are working through. I strive to make sure that there no gaps in understanding, and that students will not be required to take leaps of faith.
I think that solving STEM problems is very similar to doing a puzzle. There are often many different parts that need to come together to get to the objective. My goal is to show students that while STEM can initially be challenging, once you figure out how the puzzle works, it can also be a lot of fun!
