About Lauren
I am a Stanford University graduate with a B.A. degree in Human Biology and a minor in Education (teaching & learning focus), and an M.S. degree in Earth Systems as well as my EMT certification. I am passionate about education, particularly in areas of environmental science, biology, math, and communication. I believe effective communication is essential for all areas of STEM and have steered my own academic career and professional career to bridge those two areas of study. I have tutored from students preschool and elementary age to high school and college. I have been a teaching assistant in college and lead 20+ student elementary school classes. Additionally, I have experience working with students with learning disabilities such as ADD/ADHD and Tourette's Syndrome.

My own academic background has emphasized an understanding of general pedagogy, but I also believe that every learner is different. I strive to include multiple media within my lesson plans so that visual, auditory, and reading/writing based learners all have an opportunity to gain knowledge from the lesson. I like highly interactive lessons and believe that practice is essential to comprehension.
