I am a Reading Specialist/Elementary Teacher with 11 years experience. I have a B.S in Foreign Language Education-Spanish, Literacy Certificate from Marshall University, and M.A.T in Elementary Eduacation from Liberty University. My teaching approach is Student-Focused. It requires me to focus on the psychological and emotional needs of my students. A student’s basic needs must be met before learning can take place. A student who arrives at school hungry concentrates on the pain in his belly rather than the lesson activity at hand. Once the physical needs have been met, the students’ emotional needs have to be understood. I teach to the different learning styles. Differentiating lessons by including kinesthetic, visual, and auditory activities ensures all types of learners will be reached.
