About Joel

Currently working in a secondary school as deputy head of maths. I eat, drink and sleep maths, studying for a master's in maths in my spare time as a hobby! I am passionate about making my love of maths contagious for my students. My A level class had the greatest results in the school with highest value added. I achieved this by meeting students where they are at and building their confidence, changing their perception of themselves. I am also neurodivergent myself and have a special affinity for working with other neurodivergent pupils who struggle to reach their potential in a classroom environment.

About the lesson

I love maths and my goal is that my students will not only achieve highly academically but also be inspired by the beauty of maths and its real world applications. My lessons will be delivered in collaboration with my students, building their confidence in helping them achieve their goals. I am familiar with the challenges a classroom environment can pose for many students, especially those who are neurodivergent, and I am sensitive to these different needs.

I think he is excellent at teaching as he breaks down concepts well to makes sure you really understand ideas whilst also getting you excited to learn by taking maths into the real world and showing why this stuff is important.

Joel was an excellent tutor, he was expecially helpful helping me understand and get my head round complicated topics such as intergration by using analogies and illustrations

Closer to my exams he helped with methods for identifying and tackling questions
