About Isabella

I am a compassionate individual, who loves teaching and inspiring pupils to believe in their capabilities. I have a first class degree from the University of Bristol in Liberal Arts (Anthropology, Philosophy and English), and I did my teacher training at the University of Exeter. I have recently returned from working in Thailand at a Waldorf-inspired international school. I also worked as a private tutor to prepare children for the entrance exam to the local, more traditional international school. I am experienced in both mainstream and alternative education, and I am qualified as a Primary School teacher with a specialism with English.

I have over 8 years experience in tutoring and teaching, and I love meeting new pupils and seeing how I can support them on their learning journey.

About the lesson

I have a first class degree from the University of Bristol, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Education with English Specialism from the University of Exeter. I am also an experienced private tutor. I offer one hour lessons, where I get to know your child and tailor the approach to maximise their learning and enjoyment. I offer tuition to KS1, KS2 & KS3 children - ages 4 - 13. I am experienced in teaching across this entire age range, both in the classroom and on a one-to-one basis.

I can offer private lessons to support your child with their homework or to help them with a particular skill such as reading. I also am experienced in helping pupils prepare for entrance exams. I am very flexible and my priority is for you and your child to feel happy.

I teach in a creative way to keep the pupil engaged, as I believe deep learning comes when it feels interesting. I take a pupil-centred approach, so that they are constantly interacting with the learning material and reflecting on their learning journey. I teach in a metacognitive manner, meaning that the child thinks about their own thinking and learning. In my experience, I have found this to be the most effective way to enable understanding and knowledge to stick.

I also feel strongly that a good relationship between teacher and pupil is an essential part of the learning process also. Therefore, I make big efforts to connect with your child and to understand what they need in order to feel confident and inspired.
