About Navinish
I am a qualified secondary Science teacher with 10 years of classroom teaching experience, including teaching in both Fiji and New Zealand. I currently teach Science and Chemistry in an Auckland secondary school and have experience teaching Junior Science, NCEA Level 1 Science, Chemistry and Physics, as well as NCEA Level 2 Chemistry.
I hold a Bachelor of Science along with a teaching qualification and have a strong understanding of how students learn Science at different ability levels.
I enjoy helping students turn difficult scientific concepts into ideas they can understand and apply confidently. Whether a student is struggling with the basics, preparing for an assessment, or aiming for Merit or Excellence, I work with them at their level and help them make genuine progress.

My lessons are tailored to the individual student rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. I first identify what the student understands, where the gaps are, and what they are working towards.
I explain concepts clearly and step-by-step, use worked examples, and then give students opportunities to apply the ideas themselves. For NCEA students, I also focus on assessment and exam technique, including what is required to move from Achieved to Merit and Excellence.
Lessons can include revising classroom content, strengthening difficult topics, preparing for tests and externals, working through past NCEA questions, or getting ahead with upcoming learning.
Most importantly, I want students to understand the Science rather than simply memorise answers, while building the confidence to tackle questions independently

Details
The hourly rate includes lesson preparation and any worksheets, practice questions or learning resources used during the session.
The complimentary 30-minute first session is used to discuss the student's goals, current level, areas of difficulty and upcoming assessments. This allows me to identify learning needs and plan future lessons accordingly.
Online lessons are available throughout New Zealand. Face-to-face lessons are available within an agreed travel distance in Auckland, with a travel fee depending on location.
