About Helen
I am an experienced English teacher with over 25 years of teaching across primary and secondary levels. I have worked with a wide range of learners and aim to create a calm, supportive environment where students feel comfortable and able to build confidence in their abilities.
Alongside my teaching experience, I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), which informs my approach. I understand how factors such as confidence, anxiety and self-belief can impact learning, and I use this knowledge to support students in a practical and encouraging way.
I am passionate about helping students feel more confident, develop their skills and make steady progress, while fostering a positive and supportive learning experience.

I offer online English lessons for primary students and those in Years 7 and 8, focusing on building confidence, understanding and enjoyment of the subject. My approach is calm, supportive and structured, helping students feel comfortable while developing key skills in reading, writing and comprehension.
I use a range of strategies including modelling, guided practice, discussion and creative tasks to support engagement and progress.
With over 25 years of teaching experience, including supporting students with a range of learning needs, I adapt lessons to suit different learning styles and abilities. My aim is to help students feel more confident in their learning and develop skills that support them both in school and beyond.
